NOMINATIONS FOR VACANCIES TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS BY PETITION
If you are interested in being nominated for a vacancy on the Board of Directors with Affinity First Federal Credit Union, you may petition to have your name added to the slate of candidates. If there is only one nominee for each position to be filled, the election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor.
The requirements for nomination by petition are as follows:
- Prospective nominees must submit a petition signed by 1% of the members with a minimum of 20 signatures and a maximum of 500.
- Each nominee by petition must submit a statement of qualifications and biographical data with the petition.
- Each petition must be accompanied by a signed certificate indicating they are agreeable to the nomination and will serve if elected to office.
- All nominations by petition must be received by the Secretary of the Credit Union no later than February 20, 2006. They can be mailed to:

ELECTIONS
- Appoint Nominating Committee at least 120 days prior to annual meeting. DONE
- Nominating Committee files nominations w/ the Secretary of the CU at least 90 days prior to annual meeting.
- Secretary notifies, in writing, all members eligible to vote at least 75 days prior to annual meeting that nominations for vacancy may also be made by petition signed by 1% of members with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 500.
- Notice must indicate that election will not be conducted by ballot and there will be no nominations from the floor, if there is only one nominee for each position to be filled. Closing date for receiving nominations by petition must extend at least 30 days from date of petition requirement and the list of nominating committee’s nominees are mailed to all members. Such nominations must be filed with the Secretary of the CU at least 40 days prior to the annual meeting and the secretary will ensure that nominations by petition along with those of the nominating committee are posted in a conspicuous place in the CU office at least 35 days prior to the annual meeting.
- The BOD will appoint election tellers.
- If balloting is required (see note 4), the secretary at least 10 days prior to the annual meeting will place ballot boxes and printed ballots in conspicuous location, as determined by the BOD with the names of the candidates posted near the ballot boxes.
- Following 24 hours to vote, the ballot boxes will be opened and the vote tallied by tellers and the tallies placed in the ballot boxes and the ballot boxes resealed. The ballot boxes will be taken to the annual meeting at which time those eligible to vote will be allowed to vote and their ballots placed in the ballot boxes. After members have been give the opportunity to vote, the votes will be tallied by the tellers, added to the previous tally and the winner announced by the Chair.
- Absentee Ballots-can be authorized by the BOD if; sufficient nominations are made by the nominating committee or by petition to provide more than one nominee for any position filed. If an eligible voter has made a written request for an absentee ballot.
- The secretary, 30 days prior to the annual meeting will mail absentee ballots to those who have made written request.
- Absentee ballots must be received by the tellers no later than midnight, 5 days prior to the annual meeting; and after the expiration of the period of time specified for absentee ballots, the voting by absentee ballots will be closed and all absentee ballots will be deposited in the ballot boxes or included in the tally, sealed in the ballot boxes
Annual meeting will be held on April 12, 2006 then;
- By 12/13/06 Nominating Committee need to be appointed by BOD.
- By 01/12/07, nominating committee files names w/ secretary.
- By 01/26/07, notify all members eligible to vote that nominations can be made by petition.
- By 02/26/07, closing date for receiving nominations by petition.
- By 03/01/07, petition nominations must be filed w/ secretary.
- By 03/06/07, nominations must be posted in CU.
- By 03/13/07, absentee ballots need to be mailed if requested in writing.
- By 04/02/07, Ballot boxes need to be placed in area designated by BOD.
- By 04/06/07, absentee ballots need to be received by tellers.
